Winter, however, is normally a time I dread. It's cold and dreary and once the holidays are over I have no use for snow whatsoever. And yet this year I am seriously missing the snow and cold temperatures. We've had more rain that I can ever remember in a winter month, and today it's supposed to be in the upper 50's...again.
Maybe it's not the snow I'm missing though....it's the snow days and resulting free time with my boys. Snow days are special because they are a day when you can say "Well, we can't go anywhere or do anything...might as well blow off the chores and do something fun!" They are for playing video games all day in your pajamas and having popcorn and cookies for lunch while watching a movie...all bundled up on the couch together under a pile of blankets. They are for things you want to do, not the things you have to do every day. They are a much needed respite from the dreary beginning of the year when there is nothing to look forward to but Spring and Spring Break! It's hard to be excited about Spring when it's staring you in the face every day since Christmas!!!!
The 7 day forecast doesn't give me much hope that we'll see a snow day anytime soon. This has got to be a perfect example of "be careful what you wish for" because I was hoping and praying for a mild Winter so much that we ended up with NO Winter at all!!!
In an attempt to coax Winter into making an appearance, just for a week or so, here are some shots from last year.
Everyone get their spring clothes out this week....that should bring the snow ;)
