Growing Gratitude

I find myself this morning thinking about all of the things I take for granted every day, big and small.  I think about the news that I got yesterday that seemed pretty catastrophic at the time and then remember that there are people struggling with much bigger, and unfixable, issues that make mine seem paltry in comparison.  Then I stumbled upon Earth Mama's post and it seemed to be kismet that I should read her words today and join in.  She's called it Growing Gratitude and it's purpose is simply to be more aware of the moment and grateful for the things that those moments bring.  For me it means not looking at change as negative, but as simply change.  I tell my boys all the time that change is good, new and different is good...I often forget that some of the best things in life often start off with uncertain beginnings.  I need to remind myself.

And so....Right now, I am...

...thankful for second chances...

....endlessly grateful for my two amazing children and the lessons I have to learn from them (we aren't always the teachers as parents, are we?)

...impossibly thankful for my husband who loves me and supports me and is HERE for me no matter what...

...promising myself that if I stumble it doesn't mean I failed, it just means I need practice...

...thankful for knowledgeable friends who share their wealth of info freely, what a relief to know you aren't in it alone!!

More than anything else I am enjoying being a part of this wonderful and crazy family of mine, there's nothing I wouldn't do to stay right here, right now, with the three of them....

  1. So beautiful...all of it. I like to think of my children as the teachers...they show us SO much about ourselves (a lot that in the moment we may not want to see!). But yes, all the "bad" thing are there also to teach us...more lessons about life and ourselves then we may have ever imagined possible! Silly how life goes sometimes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
